1. Branch Postmaster (BPM)

BPM is responsible for the day-to-day functioning of the Branch Post Office and India Post Payments Bank operations. Duties include postal operations, customer service, marketing and promotion of postal products/services and, where applicable, mail conveyance and delivery.

A selected BPM must arrange accommodation for the Branch Post Office at their own cost and reside in the post village where the Branch Office is functioning.

2. Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)

ABPM duties include sale of stamps/stationery, mail conveyance and doorstep delivery, IPPB transactions, assisting the BPM and promotion of postal products and services.

3. Dak Sevak

Dak Sevaks may work in Departmental Offices, Sub Post Offices, Head Post Offices and Railway Mail Service offices. Their duties include mail delivery, IPPB transactions, handling mailbags, sorting-related work and other duties assigned by the Postmaster.

GDS personnel receive Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA).
